Job Description:
Under the supervision of the Operations Support Bureau Chief
(DESA I), the branch receptionist provides support for the Branch.
The branch receptionist greets visitors and provides information
and assistance to the public, in person, or over the telephone.
The branch receptionist is responsible for screening incoming
calls, routes appropriately and sends typed messages. Responds to
inquiries from the public, uses computer system to obtain and
provide information on disability claims to applicants and/or their
representatives, performs clerical support, and works on special
projects. The Office Assistant is expected to consistently exercise
a high degree of initiative, independence, good judgment and
discretion in performing tasks and interacting with the public.

Special Requirements
This position requires Federal fingerprint clearance and background
check.
Criminal record checks of prospective full- or part-time CDSS,
Disability Determination Service Division (DDSD) personnel will be
conducted. Applicants for this position will be required to submit
fingerprints for Federal processing. Federal clearance is a
condition of employment for this position. (Homeland Security
Presidential Directive 12)

of not less than 40 words per minute must be submitted with

last four years & must be a certified test that meets the State

You are required to complete employment history on the application
form (STD 678). You may be disqualified from the recruitment

If you are meeting minimum qualifications with education, you must

hire.
Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the
availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by
the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development
assignments are considered limited term, 12 months, and may be
extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be
admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of
residence in California prior to being eligible for
appointment.
