Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, Assistant Professor of
Diagnostic Sciences
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions:
Reporting to the Chair, Department of Diagnostic Sciences at the
University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry,
this position is responsible for providing curricular content in
the following primary area: Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. General

2. Teaching

- Use all methods and modalities of teaching and assessment
appropriate to one's teaching assignments.

- Map and help deliver Radiology curriculum including integration
with various Helixstrands.
- Develop and deliver lecture, seminar, lab/clinical and
computer-based individualized instruction.
- Utilize outcomes assessment, including student and peer
evaluation to improve curricular content and presentation.
- Providing didactic and clinical content to predoctoral, post
graduate, and dental hygienelearners.
- As Content Coordinator for Radiology, set standards of care for
our dental school and facilitate staff development as needed around
new technology and equipment.3. Scholarship
- Continuously reflect in a disciplined fashion on one's field,
on education, and on practice.
- Share scholarship through publications, presentations, and
other means with one's peers.
- Develop an area of scholarship marked by cumulative advances in
knowledge and practice.
- Participate in organizations and groups that encourage and
sustain inquiry and provide peer review.
- Demonstrate a willingness to examine any part of one's
professional activities in light of appropriate literature, data,
critical thinking, and peer review4. Service
- Participate in Clinic Advisory and other clinically oriented
committees and meetings representing Radiology.
- Engage broadly in other school, university, professional and
community service opportunities5. Patient Care and Management of
Patient Care
- Manage Radiology clinical consultation services: refine
process, protocols, tracking, and follow-up to include referrals as
necessary.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Radiology faculty and
technicians to provide idealpatient care and student learning.
- Assist in the professional development of faculty both in the
radiology clinics and in theschool at large.
- Oversight of the School's quality assurance protocols specific
to radiation safety and best practices.
- Faculty Practice is available and represents a separate,
additional commitment outside of this 4 day, 52 week teaching
appointment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Curriculum management as it relates to radiology.
- Competency based education and assessment methodology.
- Modern pedagogical concepts and application in health
professions education.
- Providing care for patients with intellectual and developmental
disabilities.
- Integrated, interprofessional care delivery systems.
- Trends in oral health and oral health education.
- Dental accreditation standards and processes.
Ability to:
- Promote the dental school mission, vision, and core
values.
- Lead and function in an active change environment.
- Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, residents,
students in a variety of ways including:
- email, texts, one-on-one conversations, small meetings, large
meetings, lectures, etc.
- Maintain professional composure and demeanor at all times.
- Listen, follow, collaborate, negotiate, compromise, direct,
delegate, refer, and think critically.
- Inspire excellence and promote innovation.Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of practice experience or specialty
training.
- Dental private practice, group practice, AEGD/GPR or public
health experience is desirable.Education:
- DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited school of dentistry.
- Completion of an advanced education program in Oral and
Maxillofacial Radiology.
- Board Eligibility.
- Licensed in California. Must have a California license as a
condition of employment as the incumbent will oversee delivery of
radiology services to patients.Working Conditions:
- Position requires coordination of a variety of responsible
duties in stressful non-clinical and clinical situations.
- Must be available to work additional hours every weekday and
some weekends.

- Work performed is primarily general
office/administrative/direct patient care with frequent use of
computer keyboard and phone.
- Requires sitting, standing, bending, walking.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15lbs should be anticipated.
