Job Description:

Position Overview:This an onsite position and will mainly support Sutter Santa Rosa Regional Hospital, Lakeside Hospital, Solano Medical Center, and Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation.Manages all local HIM operations and acts as first point of contact for administrative, medical staff, and local regulatory issues. Responsible to oversee the implementation of policies and procedures set by HIM Sutter Shared Services operations. This position is also responsible to act as liaison between each local hospital administration and HIM operations at Sutter Shared Services. Oversees staff training, coaching, and support; issue identification, assessment, and resolution; and technical support in order to achieve desired outcomes and compliance with Sutter Health policies/procedures and standards. -Oversees and may perform quality reviews and analysis to support internal controls, monitoring employee performance, and assisting with staff development, retention and selection. -Supports the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to champion and drive the long-term Sutter Shared Services vision. Helps foster an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized. Participates in programs and in using tools in support of building a high performance culture via the standard Sutter Shared Services responsibilities (e.g. performance measurement, people development, customer relationship management, etc.)Qualifications:Education, Licensures, and Certifications:

  • Associate's degree Or equivalent education/experience required
  • Bachelor's degree Or equivalent education/experience preferred
    • Registered Health Information Administrator - RHIA, Upon Hire, preferred Or Registered Health Information Technician - RHIT required within 3 years, program started within 6 months.Experience:
      • Demonstrated experience and a proven track record in Document Imaging or Release of Information, hospital business operations, information systems, and applications. Experience participating in Document Imaging or Release of Information standards, processes, policies, procedures and/or service level agreements required
      • Demonstrated experience supervising staff required
      • Demonstrated teaching, training, and/or project management experience required
      • Experience in complex regional/ shared service environment with multiple/ matrix reporting relationships preferredSkills and Knowledge:
        • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology
        • In-depth knowledge/ awareness of all areas related to HIM - Operations and how they interrelate
        • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques related to Document Imaging and Release of Information
        • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records system applications, preferably Epic
        • Strong customer service skills, including all levels of clinical staff
        • Ability to organize, develop, and manage projects
        • Ability to mentor and support staff transitioning to higher skill levels based on measured quality and productivity standards
        • Ability to manage staff and resolve issues at all applicable locations
        • Ability manage complex staff schedules and coverage for document imaging and release of information working across multiple environments
        • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback to team members to support continuous improvement
        • Ability to manage own schedule and responsibilities across multiple locations. Must have initiative to work effectively without constant supervision and direction, meeting all deadlines
        • Ability to comprehend and retain information that can be applied to work procedures to achieve appropriate service delivery
        • Requires strong accuracy, attentiveness to detail and time management skills
        • Aptitude to conceptualize, plan, and implement stated goals and objectives
        • Ability to identify, analyze, prioritize, resolve and / or escalate complex problems promptly
        • Ability to learn new applications/software systems effectively and efficiently
        • Ability to communicate ideas both verbally and in writing to influence others using one-on-one contact and group discussions
        • Ability to recognize the appropriate style, level of detail, and message for the audience
        • Ability to develop effective working relationships/ networks within and outside the organization
        • Skills using spreadsheet, word processing, statistical, project management, and presentation software applications, preferably Microsoft Suite
