POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the General Manager (GM) is to meet customer
expectations with high quality and OTD performance while delivering
on Profit and Loss (P&L) expectations for the site. The GM
maintains and improves overall business operations to achieve
organizational goals and profitability, combined with the company's
marketability and competitiveness in the industry. With creativity
and confidence in leadership, this position will train, support,
and develop key personnel to maximize potential and ensure quality
performance within the organizational location. This position will
use strong visionary leadership skills to identify future needs of
their location, charisma, and enthusiasm to influence and inspire
others, and resilience to endure challenges and ever-changing
circumstances.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITY AND
AUTHORITY)
- Responsible for site Profit and Loss performance to meet or
beat overall financial expectations.
- Interface with customers and vendors as needed to resolve
technical issues, retain customers, and win new business.
- Lead the site-specific team and personnel including hiring,
training, performance etc.
- Ensure site safety with robust proactive and preventative
safety programs.
- Manage key personnel; provide coaching, evaluate performance,
and provide corrective action as needed.
- Direct and manage the performance of business operations of a
specific business unit or location, including production,
purchasing, quality, and safety.
- Work closely with Commercial function to win new business and
drive growth for Prototek.
- Assist in the development and execution of Prototek and local
business strategies.
- Coordinate with support departments such as human resources,
finance, and IT, and other business units or locations, to execute
plans and improve operations.
- Provide input to annual budget preparation for capital request
and overall financial expectations.
- Delegate authority and responsibility to key personnel to
ensure operational plans are executed.
- Lead and/or delegate process improvement projects related to
productivity, quality, ergonomics, safety, and cost control in
conjunction with the Quality Management system.
- Implement, train and drive compliance with all company policy,
including production, quality, safety, and human resources.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending
educational trainings and participating in industry events.
- Accountable to meet or beat financial and operational metrics
as established in annual planning process.
- Comply with Prototek Delegation of Authority for General
Managers.
- Other duties as assigned.

- 15 years' experience / demonstrated success in the following:
- Manufacturing, Operations Mgmt., and Quality.
- Talent management and organizational effectiveness.

- Customer relationship building and management.
- Industry insights and strategic planning.
- Proficient knowledge of processes and technologies used in
prototyping and manufacturing.
- Proficient knowledge of continuous improvement
methodologies.
- Proficient knowledge of financial systems and other online
tools such as Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or
related field required.
- 15+ years' experience in a related management position
required.
- Demonstrated experience in lean manufacturing and six sigma
preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computer and
handle/feel small and large parts.
- Ability to focus vision with or without visual aids for: close
vision, color vision, depth perception and adjusting to sharp
focus.
- Ability to lift up to 10-20 lbs occasionally throughout work
week.
- Noise conditions in production areas can be moderate to
extreme, PPE required and provided.
- Production areas may contain fumes or airborne particles, PPE
provided upon request.
WORK HOURS
- Monday - Friday, 45+ hours/week
- 15% travel: between company facilities, vendor/customer visits,
trade shows, conferences, etc.
- Remote work on an exception basis available upon VP
approval.
WORK AUTHORIZATION
