OverviewCOMPASS Petaluma is designed to provide treatment to youth involved in the child welfare system, provide a safe and supportive environment in our Intensive Services Foster Care (ISFC) neighborhood and successfully transition them to an alternative placement with connection to natural supports. A Mental Health Counselor in the Comprehensive Assessment and Stabilization Program (COMPASS) supports the clinical treatment and provides daily support to youth living in the neighborhood. They engage youth in activities both in the neighborhood and off campus with the goal of helping them to make progress towards goals, increase independence, and experience success while at COMPASS.

• 
  
  
• Provide daily interaction with youth living in the neighborhood with interventions aimed at supporting them in their mental health treatment goals
  
• Provide counseling, case management and collateral services to ensure the successful transition of clients and their families to community-based resources
  
• Support Professional Parents with implementation of clients' treatment goals and guide them in assisting clients in their acquisition of new skills and behavioral responses
  
• Possibility to provide on-call coverage to clients and their families
  
• Support client and family connection to community-based resources
  
• Participate in all House Meetings, case staffing meetings and program staff meetings, supervision and IEP meetings when necessary
  
• Complete mental health progress notes, incident reports, when necessary, before the end of the shift and according to agency's documentation quality and timeliness standards.
  
• Assist with planning for transportation arrangements for school, medical, social activities, therapy appointments, and court hearings
  
• Provide crisis intervention as needed during shift
  
  
  Qualifications
  
  
  
  • 
    
    
  • Bachelor's degree required
    
  • Experience working with youth in out-of-home care or community based programs preferred
    
  • Own vehicle, valid driver's license, clean record and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy
    
    
  • Ability to engage and develop rapport with children from a wide variety of backgrounds
    
  • Ability to provide consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions
    
  • Clear TB test, health screening, criminal background check, and any other mandatory State or Federal licensing and certification requirements
