Sterling Medical is looking for an Optometrist to provide backfill services to the Unites States Coast Guard in Petaluma, CA. This position is an Independent Contractor position and works only 8 hours a week. Must have a diploma from an accredited school of Optometry, a license, a BLS and 2 years of recent experience. For more information please contact Yvonne Ramirez at yvonne@vesahealth.com.Job Requirements:* Remove foreign bodies from eye* Provide comprehensive eye exams, refractions, contact lens care, on-going medical eye & urgent medical eye care, ophthalmology post-surgical co-management care* Provide vision and eye care education and counseling to patients* Remove foreign bodies from eye* Assist patients to insert or remove contact lenses* Training new contact lens wearers on proper use and care* Integrate both ocular and systemic apsect of eye care in diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with various ocular conditions* Performing general eye examinations and office visits* Coordinate medical eye care with other physicians within the facility, when eye disease is concurrent with systemic disease* Fitting of eye glasses and adjustment of frames* Prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions* Ensure high quality eye care and high quality service* Ensure high quality eye care andhigh quality service is provided in the clinic* Checking prescribed lenses in order to correct vision defects* Prescribe medications to treat eye diseases if state law* Perform complex contact lens fittings including medically necessary contact lenses in adults and/or children Other Clinical Responsibilities* Prescribe lenses and necessary correction alternatives* Order and receive required optical supplies, including contact lenses* Provide Optometric services to the incarcerated population within a correctional medical unit environment* Provide eye examination/test visual acuity, prescribe lenses to preserve or restore vision based on professional standards of practice
