The Application Specialist I/II/Lead will provide a wide variety of difficult to complex tasks related to software applications, technology and related systems including user support, problem identification and resolution, installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance. The primary responsibilities will be technical application support for desktop computer systems, POS Store Systems, Mobile Devices, and Business System Applications (D365 Centric). The Application Specialist position provides consultation to departments to identify application needs and response for the Technology Work Order support, troubleshooting and internal customer training. Application Specialist IThis is the entry-level position of the Application Specialist series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn as they perform the essential duties such as basic problem identification and resolution and as work experience is gained, they work with greater independence of action within established guidelines. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency that meets the qualifications for the higher-level class. Application Specialist IIThis position is an advanced level position receiving technical direction from the senior level and supervision from management level staff. This position level performs a wide variety of difficult to complex tasks related to software applications, technology and telecommunications systems including installation, configuration, advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, testing, and maintenance. Application Specialist - LeadThis is the most expert and highly competent level position in the Application Specialist class series. General supervision is provided by the Application Manager. This position may provide day-to-day technical direction to the Application Specialist I and II Team Members and responsibilities may include the indirect supervision of support staff. This position will coordinate projects and prioritize work, ensure the quality of work, may be responsible for process analysis and may provide performance feedback and direction for assignments to lower-level positions. This position will also provide consultation to departments to identity information management needs and translate work processes into business systems functions or automation.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Provide day to day support to internal users regarding software application questions and problems, perform preliminary diagnosis of problems. Provide or recommend training to internal users.Respond promptly to inquiries from internal/external users and provide Technical Work Order support regarding functions and operations of software programs. Respond to computer disruptions and failures and resolve or escalate to established Technology Service LevelsIdentify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in software program functions, outputs, online screens, and content.Act as an information resource to Team Members concerning computer and software applications; research and resolve problems; incorporate repeated questions into training programReview, use and contribute to knowledge base articles or documentation as required. Ability to recognize trends and recommend program improvements or revisions.Create test cases and test data. Create and execute test scripts.--Contribute to establishment of standards and procedures for program design (functional) and testing.Test software programs to compare to specifications and documentation for incorporation into standards. Identify and document program variances from standards and suggest modifications to conform.Perform acceptance testing of new and/or modified software applications, configurations, or infrastructure changes by developing test data and calculating expected results; execute programs and procedures; review output and evaluate and document resultsMaintain records related to test scenarios, support issues, and other data collection tasksCoordinate testing by users and third parties.Conduct compatibility tests with other software programs, hardware, multiple operating systems, and network environments.Assist in special projects assigned including new applications, change in application software or hardware, to achieve desired results.Attend workshops and seminars to remain current on Technology and applicationsAdditional Application Specialist - Lead Duties: -- Plan, design and implement interdepartmental information systems-- Set standards and develop guidelines to ensure compliance for program documentation -- Analyze and evaluate vendor supplied software and hardware products; recommend new or replacement products-- Implement, evaluate, monitor and maintain appropriate application or user security roles and procedures -- Develop scripts to automate, test, track, and verify defects in current FHI Technology space. Document, track, and communicate test plans, test results, analysis, and unresolved problems.
