The Sterilization technician cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and packages instruments and follows standard precautions, OSHA requirements and dental board regulations.Areas of Responsibility:Sterilization:Keeps sterilization area clean and organizedProficient at the use and maintenance of the Bio Sonic, Hydrim, Statim, Quattro care, M11, M3 and other sterilization and maintenance equipment.Checks instruments before wrapping and assists with inventory control Labels the cassettes and pouches accuratelyMonitors sterilization via physical, chemical and biological indicators Conducts and records spore testing daily and weeklyKeeps accurate sterilization recordsStores sterilized instruments according to protocol Restocks the sterilization roomServes as an infection control officer, follows infection control protocols and sterilizes and disinfects instruments and equipmentDental Operatories and Equipment:Prepares and maintains with accuracy and efficiency dental instruments, supplies and equipment Restocks the operatoriesCleans, maintains and sets up operatories efficiently for procedures Cleans traps and vacuum lines in operatoriesCloses operatories at the end of the dayMakes sure that dental units, x-rays machines, computers, vacuum and compressor are turned off at the end of the dayCompliance:Conducts work in compliance with office policies and procedures, safety guidelines, OSHA, MSDS guidelines and the Dental Board of CA and COMDAOther Duties:Assists with other duties as directedExperience and SkillsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Desired Skills:Good communication skillsAbility to perform detailed work according to established formats and protocolsLicenses and Certifications:---Must have current BLS certification---Candidate must be able to successfully meet PHC's credentialing and privileging requirementsLanguage Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and requests from patients, co-workers, and others as necessary.Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.Reasoning Ability: Ability to recognize problems, collect data and establish facts.Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Word and Outlook) and use of a web browser.
